Team Building Training, March 20, 2012

Goals

Main goal: To promote attitudes and behaviors necessary to improve team cohesion

         1. Understand teamwork, and what are the key factors that influence teams.

         2. Become aware of ourselves as team players, and find some barriers or areas for improvement.

         3. Identify and train a set of behaviors and attitudes that foster teamwork: trust, communication and cooperation

         4. Transmit to the group of professionals the energy and motivation to be team players.

         5. Develop a personal development plan to actually apply the improvement at work.

Aimed At
- Professionals who have to work in teams (either functional, international, project, permanent or temporary teams) and want to improve their attitudes and behaviours as team players.

- Leaders or HR professsionals who want to improve the dynamics of a team or an organization.

Methodology

When dealing with teamwork, attitudes and emotions are paramount. A theoretical framework is needed to structure the training, but that's not the key to improve teamwork.

Most of us agree on what it takes to build a team, but few of us actually apply those behaviours or recognize our weak points as team players. Some moments of truth are:

·         when we are under stress or time pressure

·         when there is emotional conflict among individuals in the team

·         when the organization, our boss or the situation make it difficult to remain a team player

·         when we are tempted to attain individual goals at the cost of common goals

·         when we have to work with someone very different from us (personality, language, country, background, values, etc.)

Therefore, most of the time must be spent playing, giving and getting feedback, thinking, and exercicing those difficult situations.

To make it fun and participative, some of the experiential learning tools we will combine are:

·         Role plays

·         Scenes from movies

·         Theater of improvisation

·         Open debate

·         Learning activities and games
